Creating opportunity with every bike

Back2Bikes is a not-for-profit, that turns bikes destined for landfill into fresh starts for people facing life's toughest challenges - including refugees, survivors of domestic violence, individuals experiencing homelessness and kids in need.

Our Mission

Everyone deserves access to quality, affordable and independent transport. A bike can open windows of opportunity - helping someone travel to work, attend interviews or giving a child their very first ride.

Through our volunteer network and public donations, we rescue bicycles destined for landfill, fully restore them and gift them to refugees, domestic violence survivors, individuals experiencing homelessness and community members in need.

We do this in partnership with more than 50 charities across Victoria and Australia.

What We Do

Opportunity Bikes Program

We partner with over 50 local charities (such as Sacred Heart Mission and AMES Australia) to provide refurbished bikes and parts to marginalised individuals.

Quality Refurbished Bike Sales

Every refurbished bike sold directly funds our charity operations - allowing us to operate grant-free. Each bike includes a safety check, new essential components and a fair-use warranty.

Affordable Servicing & Repairs

Need a tune-up? Bring your bike to our Port Melbourne workshop. We prioritise affordable, eco-friendly repairs using quality second-hand and new parts. Find us at the South Melbourne Market on the 4th Saturday of every month (10am–1pm) for free 10-minute tune-ups!

Community Education & Workshops

We host hands-on bike maintenance courses, specialised evening workshops and our long-running Women’s Group program to build bike repair skills in our community.
